I’m glad he always comes to Houston. Though I’m not fond of the tiny bookstore he chooses. The parking is nonexistent there and people are crammed into the store like sardines. Oh well…
The Utah Valley Convention Center is in Provo, UT, not Salt Lake City
Oooh I have family in Naperville….However, that seems rather close to Thanksgiving.
Then again, maybe we could crash their Thanksgiving ;)
Nothing on the East Coast…. darn!
With a book of this magnitude, I’ll bet he does other touring for it. It’s a lot to try and do right before the holidays.
Houston makes the list!?!?!! So excited!!! (I agree with Austin’s points regarding the parking/small space..but since it’s a Saturday(!!!), I suppose I can arrive extra early to find parking and get a spot up close).
Thanks for coming to Houston, Brandon. =)
Damn, wish he was gonna be somewhere in the LA area, SD isn’t too far but don’t want to drive all the way.
Austin @1 – Part of the location is that Brandon likes to support bookstores that have always supported him. Part of it is bookstores that are willing to put in the work and expense to bring him in. So… there’s a lot more going on than just throwing a dart and saying, “I think I’ll go to that one.”
In other news, I’m glad to see Mysterious Galaxy get their turn for the launch-day party. Also, I’m very bummed about the lack of a Seattle stop. Here’s hoping there will be more tour announced later, even though I know this book has been exhausting for him.
I am so there! Borderlands Books in San Fransicso! I was there for Brandon’s “Arcanum Unbounded” Tour. It was awesome but was packed. Get there early if you want good seats. Maybe John Denzel from Dragonmount will show up again with his latest book too (he’s from my terf in the Sacramento Area) and tagged along with Brandon in S.F.
@7: 125 miles is relative.
If I go see him in Houston, that’s a 240 mile one way drive from Dallas. Friends in Oklahoma City have never seen Brandon inside of a 6 hour drive.
But since this tour is around Thanksgiving, I see other factors at play for this being a much shorter tour than we were all hoping for.
That is the downside of a holiday release.
Please include AZ (Phoenix area) on your list!
Have to go early, last time was so packed I was lucky to even get inside the bookstore. Brandon gets around though so I’m not worried. He’s very generous with his time.
Do you have some deep-seated hatred of the East Coast?
Alice @8 – I get it. The only reason I grumble is because that shop is on a small, one way sized street with a couple of parking spots in front (not counting the spots for the other businesses in the strip). Last time I had to park a few streets over and walk. Of course, I would walk over broken glass for a chance to go to a Sanderson signing :P
I really hope the European part of the tour includes Stockholm.
Haaah … Well, for me, the distance to the closest spot (which seems to be in IL, but there really isn’t much difference) is roughly 5000 miles … So, I think I’ll pass.
Nothing on East Coast. :(
I would love to go, but I can’t drive 1/3rd of the way across the country for a book signing.
Six cities? That’s all? What kind of rinky-dink tour is this?
YES, you’re coming to Oregon Nov. 16. Eagerly awaiting Oathbringer’s arrival and seeing you!
Wish Kansas City was on the list.
I’m so excited for this book!!! Give the east coast some love next time! <3
I’m so glad I got to see Brandon when he toured for AMoL in Charleston, SC. I wish you would come see us again – looking forward to November!
hope he does further touring for this book!
As another one living in Houston, I just want to point out the existence of things called fire codes. I appreciate Brandon’s desire to support Murder by the Book, but every time I attend one of his events I can’t help worrying.
Ahh I am a little bummed with no Seattle trip. I was hoping to see him for my bday.
Hope there’s a stop in Colorado sometime in the future.
Why not Dallas too?? This is upsetting.. I’ll never get to meet my favorite author. Even if I had my own transportation to get there on the 18th of November, I couldn’t go…. That’s my little man’s birthday.
That feeling when people are upset Sanderson isn’t visiting their town, just one an hour or so away when there’s been no sighting of him in your home state since you started reading.
Personally, I would be much happier if writers would get the time they (have?) to take for these tours to go on vacation and recharge their batteries to write more awesome books…
Any chance you may add dates for appearances on the east coast? I know there’s a legion od us here in the NYC area who cant wait for Oathbringer.
@24 – Exactly the same thing that crosses my mind whenever I go. That little store is always packed to the gills. It has to be a fire code violation.
@20 Nice to see another from Kansas City representing! Wish he was coming here as well.
Does anyone know if there is a sign up somewhere to volunteer at the book signings?
Brenda @33 – That’s up to the individual bookstore, generally speaking. You could call them and ask. Alternatively, you can just hang out and try to make yourself useful. :)
@dragonscribe
I’ll also be at the Borderlands signing. See you there!
The tours all seem to be getting shorter as time goes by. Considering that for a book of this magnitude, a tour is absolutely irrelevant, I think its amazing Tor is sending him on one at all. I do wish there were stops on the east coast and in the south, but that’s ok. There’s always next time.
I am unreasonably excited that he’s making it to Naperville, which is very close by and a super easy drive.
Seriously, no love for the northeast? I gotta believe NYC is one of your largest markets…
@38, apparently NYC bookstores only want Brandon on release week. If that doesn’t work for him, oh well.
Watch his website for convention appearances.
what no east coast love? I would love to get some stuff signed and have my play group pick your brain over a few games of EDH.
