An adaptation of R.L. Stine’s Zombie Town is currently in production in Ontario, Canada and has an impressive cast bringing the action-packed teen romance to life.
Today, the production announced that Dan Aykroyd (Ghostbusters) and Chevy Chase (Caddyshack, Community) are in the film in undisclosed roles. They are joined by Henry Czerny (Mission Impossible), and have Marlon Kazadi (Supergirl, Riverdale) and Madi Monroe (Around the World in 80 Days) starring as the co-teen leads. If that wasn’t enough for you, Kids in the Hall alums Scott Thompson and Bruce McCulloch will also be in the movie.

Zombie Town
In Stine’s book of the same name, two kids and a sleepy town watch a horror movie called Zombie Town and have to deal with the ramifications of what happens when the film’s characters jump off the theater screen and wreak havoc. Will Aykroyd and Chase be playing said zombies? I don’t know (and probably not), but I’m curious to see what their zombie renditions would be.
“We are delighted to bring the pages of R.L. Stine’s Zombie Town to the screen and equally thrilled to be working with such an exceptional cast and crew on this production. A three-time Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award winner with book sales of over $500 million, R.L. Stine has a phenomenal track record of crafting stories that engage and entertain audiences,” John Gillespie, founder of Trimuse Entertainment founder, said in a statement.
The movie is directed by Peter Lepeniotis (Nut Job, Toy Story 2), and is executive produced by Trimuse Entertainment, Toonz Media Group, Lookout Entertainment, Viva Pictures, and Kim Coates (Sons of Anarchy, Bad Blood).
Zombie Town will premiere in U.S. theaters in December and eventually make its way to Hulu and ABC Australia early next year.
