Star Trek was strong at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend. Not only did the franchise team up with the Doctor Who franchise to celebrate “Intergalactic Friendship Day” in an activation at the event, but the Trek panel in Hall H released a bevy of trailers and news about several Star Trek series.
One of those shows was Strange New Worlds, which is set to come back soon with its third season. To celebrate the occasion, we got an extended teaser where Captain Pike (Anson Mount), Nurse Chapel (Jess Bush), Ensign Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding), and Lt. Noonien-Singh (Christina Chong) genetically become Vulcans for space reasons. They and Spock (who, they can’t help but repeatedly point out, is half-Vulcan) complete the required mission. But when they try to turn back into their non-Vulcan selves, it doesn’t work! The clip ends then but there’s no doubt that hijinks will ensue. (Logically, of course.)
That wasn’t the only news we got about the show, either. It was also announced that Cillian O’Sullivan (In From The Cold) will play the legacy role of Dr. Roger Korby, a character first portrayed by Michael Strong in The Original Series. Korby was a love interest for Chapel in TOS, so odds are good we’ll see some sparks between the two in the upcoming episodes.
Season Three of Strange New Worlds is scheduled to come out in 2025 on Paramount+, with a fourth season already greenlit. The first two seasons are currently available for your viewing pleasure on the streamer.
