The first teaser for the next season of Interview with the Vampire, AMC’s adaptation of Anne Rice’s beloved novel, is very brief, but packs a lot in—especially for those who might have thought they’d seen the end of a certain blond vamp at the end of the first season. No, no: Lestat (Sam Reid) has so much more to get up to!
But first, Claudia (now played by Delainey Hayles) has a question for Louis (Jacob Anderson): Who would he be, without all this? The teaser offers no answer, just a series of scenes that remind us who the main characters are to each other, and how much drama unfolds around them. And then, at the end, interviewer Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian) asks one more question: “What happened next?”
Seems quite relevant that when the camera cuts to Louis, Armand (Assad Zaman) is sitting right beside him.
Here’s AMC’s summary of season two:
In the year 2022, the vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson) recounts his life story to journalist Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian). Picking up from the bloody events in New Orleans in 1940 when Louis and teen fledgling Claudia (Delainey Hayles) conspired to kill the Vampire Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid), Louis tells of his adventures in Europe, a quest to discover Old World Vampires and the Theatre Des Vampires in Paris, with Claudia. It is in Paris that Louis first meets the vampire Armand (Assad Zaman). Their courtship and love affair will prove to have devastating consequences both in the past and in the future, and Molloy will probe to get to the truths buried within the memories.
This is not very revealing, unsurprisingly. Season two includes a whole bunch of guest stars, including David Costabile (Suits, Breaking Bad) as Leonard, Roxane Duran (The White Ribbon, Riviera) as Madeleine, and Bally Gill (Sherwood, Slow Horses) as Real Rashid.
The second season of Interview with the Vampire premieres May 12th.
