Tri-state lovers of science fiction and fantasy, take heed! The Housing Works Geek Week event draws near. From the announcement earlier this week:
We’re teaming up with the excellent AIDS-relief organization Housing Works to host an evening celebrating Geek Week—featuring award-winning authors Jo Walton, Charles Stross, a live set by Ninja Sex Party, Tor giveaways, and more! This marks the first time that either author has appeared in NYC (yes, we mean EVER), and it promises to be a fun, illuminating, and geeky good time. And it all goes down at Housing Works Bookstore Cafe (126 Crosby Street, New York, NY 10012) on Tuesday, February 22 at 7:00 p.m.
That’s not all! After the event there will be a mini Tor.com meet-up at the nearby Botanica Bar! (Basement level of 47 E. Houston St, between Mulberry St & Greene St.) At least half of the Tor.com team there will probably be drinking and full of nervous exhaustion, which we’re certain will lead to all sorts of memorable moments. Bring your camera!
There’s more detailed information on the Housing Works reading with Jo and Charles at the link.
Stubby the Rocket is the mascot of Tor.com and tends to be a handle for various members of the staff.
