This piece was written during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of the writers and actors currently on strike, the series being covered here wouldn’t exist.

Gen V, The Boys spinoff that focuses on some suped-up college students at Godolkin University is set to come out at the end of the month. To get us ready for the experience, Prime Video has put out an in-universe orientation video for the school that, among other things, lets us know how to pronounce Godolkin.

Unlike the trailers before it, this orientation video paints Godolkin in a hunky-dory light, where all classes are calm and composed, and with nary a dismembered body or student drenched in blood and viscera on the screen to disturb you. It also gives us the sanitized, Vaught-version of one of the professors, Richard “Brink” Brinkerhoff (Clancy Brown), as well as the dean of the school, Indira Shetty (Shelley Conn). The video breaks down two college departments: The Lamplighter Crimefighting facility, where Brink teaches, and the Crimson Countess School for the Performing Arts. Classes at God U, as it’s also known, include Hero Ethics, Understanding Branding, and Victimology. Sounds like an intense curriculum!

In addition to Brown and Conn, the cast of Gen V includes Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sean Patrick Thomas, and Marco Pigossi. The series also includes Jason Ritter as a guest star and has appearances from The Boys cast members Jessie T. Usher, Colby Minifie, and P.J. Byrne.

Ready to join the student body and become, as the video suggests, a culturally rich change agent? You’ll get your chance when Gen V premieres on Prime Video on September 29, 2023.
