Say it ain’t so, Master Chief. The television adaptation of the popular Xbox video game Halo will not get a third season at Paramount+.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the streamer declined to pick up the show for more episodes after season two ended in March.

“We are extremely proud of this ambitious series and would like to thank our partners at Xbox, 343 Industries and Amblin Television, along with showrunner and executive producer David Wiener, his fellow executive producers, the entire cast led by Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief and the amazing crew for all their outstanding work,” Paramount+ said in a statement to THR. “We wish everyone the best going forward.”

There’s some good news for Halo fans, however: While we won’t a third season at Paramount+, the show’s producers—Amblin, Xbox, and 343 Industries—plan to shop it elsewhere.

“We deeply appreciate the millions of fans who propelled the Halo series to be a global success, and we remain committed to broadening the Halo universe in different ways in the future,” said 343 Industries to THR. “We are grateful to Amblin and Paramount for their partnership in bringing our expansive sci-fi universe to viewers around the world.”

The Halo series had almost a decade of development shenanigans before it made it to television. While the first season received mixed reviews, season two fared better with critics.

No news yet on where potentially Halo may end up, but as of now, you can still watch the first two seasons on Paramount+. icon-paragraph-end
