The buzzy new sci-fi thriller, Companion, is ramping up for production. Fresh off the news that Jack Quaid would star in the film backed by the Barbarian producers is the announcement of three more cast members to the project.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the New Line film will also star What We Do In The Shadows’ Harvey Guillén (pictured above), as well as Lukas Gage (You), and Megan Suri (Never Have I Ever).

Details about the plot beyond it being a “self-contained” sci-fi thriller remain unknown. The movie is led by debut director Drew Hancock, who also wrote the script, and backed by Zach Cregger, the mind behind the immensely popular horror film, Barbarian. Cregger was originally set to direct Companion, but bowed out and supported Hancock taking over after he decided to work on his own project, Weapons.

Guillén has played the vampire familiar Guillermo de la Cruz for all six seasons of FX’s What We Do In The Shadows. He also voices the dog called Peritto in Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and is set to star in DC’s upcoming film, Blue Beetle.

Gage is probably best known for his role on You, but he also has a recurring role on the Fargo television series and is apparently playing the Cat King in the television production of Dead Boy Detectives, which has yet to come out.

Suri’s biggest role to date is playing Aneesa on Never Have I Ever, but if you’ve watched Poker Face’s second episode, she also played the goth girl who worked in the convenience store where an untimely death took place.

No news yet on when Companion will go into production, or what the movie is even about, really. But given the casting so far, I’m interested to learn more.
