If the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise have been space cops in the past, they’re going to have a little help in their next outing. Deadline  is reporting famed Robocop actor Peter Weller has joined the cast of the new Trek film. Though jokes about him playing a cyborg or a straight-up Borg drone have already started floating around the net, no confirmation yet as to what role Weller will be filling.

In other Star Trek casting news, J.J. Abrams has made clear that Benicio Del Toro will not be playing infamous genetically enchanced villian Khan. NOOO!!!! KHAAAAAN!!!!

So who will Benicio be playing? An old villian or a new one? And what about Peter Weller? Discuss!

Its true. There can be only one Khan.

But Benecio del Torror might have been a good replacement. Looking forward to see what he’ll be doing.

So does this mean the Enterprise is going to stumble upon Buckaroo in suspended animation on a Banzai Institute space capsule?

The crew of the Enterprise will watch the Earth destroyed… then a benevolent alien will send them five years into their own past to find out why.

The Borg try to assimilate the Lectroids, and explode.

Interesting timing, Buckaroo Banzai was on SyFy last night.

Watch out for Lord John Whorfin, but Ellen Barkin is welcome.
