If nine Saw movies aren’t enough for you—don’t fret! Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures has announced that there will be a tenth installation in the horror franchise that will be hitting screens on October 27, 2023.
While we don’t know the details of the tenth film yet, including its title, we do know that Saw veteran Kevin Greutert will direct the movie. Greutert not only directed Saw VI and Saw: The Final Chapter (which, I guess, isn’t the final chapter after all)—he also edited Saw I through V as well as Jigsaw.
For those who need a refresher about what the Saw franchise is all about, the first movie premiered in 2004 and, like most of the films after it, centered on a bad dude named Jigsaw who creates elaborate mechanisms to torture and/or murder people in order to make them appreciate their lives more. The latest movie in the Saw franchise, Spiral, starred Chris Rock and featured a Jigsaw copycat killer.
“We have been listening to what the fans have been asking for and are hard at work planning a movie that Saw aficionados and horror fans alike will love,” franchise producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules said in a statement. “Part of that is giving the reins to Kevin Greutert, director of Saw VI, which is still one of the fans’ favorites in the entire series. More details will be revealed soon.”
While we wait for additional details, we can check out the first nine installments in the franchise, many of which are available on Starz or for rent on a digital platform near you.
