The title is a little misleading as Seanan McGuire has even said that Roger and Dodger only play a minor part in this upcoming book.

I thought I heard somewhere that Seanan will be writing the fantasy book (Over the Woodward Wall) that plays a role in Middlegame, too. Is that right?

I am actually happier that the book is not about Roger and Dodger. Their story was so satisfying that too much more might fall flat. Looking forward to whatever happens next.

McGuire has always been a talented writer, and in Middlegame she leveled up. (I don’t mind admitting I put it first on my Hugo ballot.) Here’s hoping that this novel will be even better.
