We finally known when we’ll get to see the end of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. During its presentation at D23 this evening, Lucasfilm announced that the final season would begin streaming on Disney+ in February 2020.
The animated series debuted in 2008 on Cartoon Network, following the exploits of the Jedi Knights and clone troopers who fought during the Clone Wars between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. The series ran through 2013, and introduced a number of fan-favorite characters, including Captain Rex and Ahsoka Tano. Following Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm in 2012, the company announced that it was “winding down” the series, and released a short, six-episode season on Netflix, while author Christie Golden adapted another series of episodes in her novel Dark Disciple.
During its 10-year retrospective panel at San Diego Comic-Con in 2018, creator Dave Filoni revealed that the company was bringing the animated series back for a final season, allowing the cast and crew to finish out the last remaining plot threads.
The new, seventh season of the show will debut in February 2020.
Yaaaay :)
I know I said in another comment that Clone Wars was hit or miss, but it’s last few seasons were pretty strong, and I’d read some of the ideas/plans for the abandoned arcs and felt then that it was a shame they got left out – glad to see that they’ll be able to get some closure!
Wailing about it not coming this fall like it was originally announced, but I’ve known that since Celebration at least, and I’m happy we have a date.
Now please, a live-action Ahsoka show. It’s the only one I ever wanted. (If we’re not putting her in a movie. Actually, since I’m listing wants, why not a live-action movie and a show.)
quite the Star Wars weekend here, can’t get enough
If we see more of Ahsoka, I will be happy. And I agree with @2, a live action show for her would be awesome, especially set in the days after she leaves the Jedi order, and strikes out on her own.
It would be cool if she showed up in the Kenobi show, but I’m not sure how the timelines would work out or if Ahsoka would even know where he was. I can’t remember if they knew about each other in the Rebels episode.
