It’s a good year for SFF and horror recognition at the Emmys. AndorThe Last of UsThe House of the Dragon, and Yellowjackets are all nominated for outstanding drama series; Wednesday brings a note of macabre charm to the outstanding comedy series lineup; and Obi-Wan Kenobi is nominated for outstanding limited or anthology series. And that’s just the start!

The Last of Us has twenty-four nominations, including acting nods for Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal, making it—as Variety notes—”the first live-action video game adaptation to earn major awards consideration from a top Hollywood awards body, in television or in film.” Those two dozen nominations include seven nominations for outstanding guest actor or actress in a drama series: for Murray Bartlett and Nick Offerman’s work in “Long, Long Time”; for Melanie Lynskey, Keivonn Montreal Woodard, and Lamar Johnson’s work in “Endure and Survive”; for Storm Reid in “Left Behind”; and for Anna Torv in “Infected.”

Outside of the zombie apocalypse, Melanie Lynskey is also nominated for her role in Yellowjackets, Jenna Ortega for Wednesday, and Natasha Lyonne for Poker Face. And Pascal is actually nominated twice—he’s also up for outstanding guest actor in a comedy series for his turn hosting Saturday Night Live. Also, Daniel Radcliffe is nominated for his turn in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, which seems just perfect.

Unsurprisingly, SFF/H series also make a good showing in the more technical categories, including The Last of UsThe House of the Dragon, Guillermo Del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities, What We Do in the Shadows, and Wednesday among the nominees in the various outstanding production design categories; The Mandalorian, House of the Dragon, Wednesday, Guillermo Del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities, and Andor up for outstanding cinematography; and Wednesday, The Last of Us, and Andor up for outstanding directing (for Tim Burton’s work on “Wednesday’s Child is Full of Woe,” Peter Hoar’s work on “Long, Long Time,” and Benjamin Caron’s work on “Rix Road,” respectively).

Dan Trachtenberg is also nominated for Prey in the category of outstanding directing for a limited or anthology series or movie; the film is also up for outstanding television movie and outstanding writing. Andor (“One Way Out,” by Beau Willimon) and The Last of Us (“Long, Long Time,” by Craig Mazin) are also nominated in the writing category.

Many, many more SFF series are nominated for editing, hairstyling, makeup, music (including Nicholas Britell for Andor‘s “Rix Road,” which is as it should be) and more; see the full list here!
