Nobody can get out of that dang Quiet Place. It seems like there are at least two more Quiet Place movies on the way; one, as announced by director and star John Krasinski in February, is a third film in the alien-invasion series that isn’t expected to premiere until 2025. The other is a spinoff, to be directed by Pig’s Michael Sarnoski.
At Paramount’s presentation today at the industry-focused CinemaCon, the studio announced that the Sarnoski film is a prequel, with the title A Quiet Place: Day One.
A Quiet Place offers up the totally terrifying concept of an invasion by aliens who attack when they hear the slightest sound. The only way to survive is to be incredibly quiet, so of course one of the main characters of the first film is a pregnant Emily Blunt. Leah Schnelbach can tell you a lot more about how well that goes.
The first film was made on a fairly small budget and made money hand over fist, so it’s unsurprising that Paramount seems to be in the process of developing a Quiet Place Cinematic Universe. So far, they’ve only gotten around to A Quiet Place Part II (pictured above), but obviously any cinematic universe worth its salt involves a prequel. It’s not known whether Blunt or Krasinski will appear in the alien invasion origin story, but anything is possible.
A Quiet Place: Day One is scheduled to invade theaters on September 22, 2023.
