It’s been over fifteen years since the last The Omen movie (pictured above)—a film starring Liev Schreiber, Julia Stiles, and David Thewlis in a reboot of the classic 1976 film—graced the big screen. It looks like we’ve got a new Antichrist child in the making, however, as there’s now a prequel to the franchise in the works (appropriately titled First Omen), and Nell Tiger Free is on board.

According to Deadline, Free will play a leading role in the horror film. We don’t have details about the plot of First Omen, including how far back the movie takes place from the events in the original, but it’s more likely than not to feature some Satanic child (named Damien, perhaps?) and the people who love them.
This isn’t Free’s first foray into creepy material, although it will be her first leading role. Before signing on to First Omen, she was the not-so-nice nanny on Apple TV+’s Servant as well as in the UK sci-fi series, Settlers. The movie also has first-time feature director Arkasha Stevenson on board, and she along with her writing partner Tim Smith are doing a rewrite of the script. David S. Goyer (Foundation), Keith Levine, and Gracie Wheelan are producing.
First Omen will be the sixth film in the franchise, which in addition to the original and the reboot includes two sequels to the 1976 original—Damien: Omen II and Omen III: The Final Conflict—as well as the made-for-television movie, Omen IV: The Awakening. There was also a television series called Damien, named after the Antichrist child of the first film, that didn’t make it past its first season.
No news yet on when the movie will make its way to a screen near you.
