The Crimes of Gridelwald, Fantastic Beasts 2

The title and cast breakdown of the next Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them installment has been announced… and there are oh-so-many questions to ask given what has been revealed! Come speculate.

The titled of the sequel will be Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. So in case anyone thought the series would be waiting on the Grindelwald plotline, that’s a solid no. Here’s a picture of the main cast, with more information below:

Fantastic Beasts 2, cast photo

Flanking the cast, we have Johnny Depp’s Grindelwald and Jude Law’s Albus Dumbledore (he is not dressed flamboyantly enough and his hair doesn’t look properly auburn, but he is carrying his want like a clutch, which I love). The core cast is back, with Newt, Tina, Queenie, and Jacob in tow.

Ezra Miller’s Credence will also be back in the movie, along with MACUSA President Seraphina Piquery (Carmen Ejogo). But the woman next to Miller in the photo is an as-yet unnamed character played by Claudia Kim who is said to be a “Maledictus,” a person with a blood curse who turns into a beast.

Center in the photo is Newt’s brother, Theseus Scamander (Callum Turner)… next to fiancée Leta Lestrange(Zoë Kravitz). So. You know. Given Newt’s comments about his war hero brother, and the falling out between himself and Leta, one of his dearest friends at school… ouch. Yikes.

Nicholas Flamel will also appear in the sequel, played by Brontis Jodorowsky, and it’s been revealed that the French magical ministry will also make an appearance in the film. The center plot will revolve around Grindelwald’s escape from custody and Newt enlisting Dumbeldore to help stop the dark wizard as he amasses more followers.

So that’s what we know! The Crime of Grindelwald will hit theaters on November 16, 2018.
