It’s been almost three years since the pandemic started, and we’re now getting some movies related to that time, including the new horror comedy, Sick. The film starts in April 2020 and is a genre mash-up that centers around two friends quarantining at a very, very nice house. Things start great, but soon get not-so-good when a mysterious killer ends up in the midst looking to murder them all.

The film comes from Scream screenwriter Kevin Williamson as well as Kateyln Crabb, and is directed by John Hyams, who helmed the 2020 thriller, Alone. And if the trailer is any indication, the slasher and thriller subgenres are alive and well at this lake house.

Here’s the movie’s official synopsis:

As the pandemic steadily brings the world to a halt, Parker and her best friend Miri decide to quarantine at the family lake house alone—or so they think. Directed by John Hyams (Alone), written by Kevin Williamson (Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer) and Katelyn Crabb, Sick stars Gideon Adlon (Blockers, The Craft: Legacy), Bethlehem Million (And Just Like That), Marc Menchaca (The Outsider, Ozark) and Jane Adams (Twin Peaks, Poltergeist, Hacks).

If you’re ready for some pandemic-related horror (and perhaps, humor?), the good news is you only have a few short days to wait—Sick screams its way onto Peacock on Friday, January 13.
