Marvel Studios has released the first trailer for Cloak & Dagger, the television series coming to Freeform about the two teenagers who will become the eponymous crimefighting duo. But for now they’re just dancer Tandy and basketball player Tyrone, linked by a mysterious accident in their childhoods—which they don’t remember until they cross paths years later, when their powers are manifesting and they begin being chased by forces who want to tamp those powers down.
The official synopsis, from Marvel:
Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger is the story of Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph)—two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers which are mysteriously linked to one another. Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart, but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging.
You don’t actually get much of that in the trailer; while her power is obvious, his is less so. Though there’s an interesting Easter egg with the Roxxon Corp connection spotted at the very end of the trailer, when Cloak seems to have inherited his namesake garment.
