Based on the teaser trailer Netflix released, the upcoming series Supacell centers on a man who, unexpectedly bestowed with the power to time travel, visits the future and finds out the love of his life will die in mere weeks.
The official logline for the show confirms this:
While the time travel premise has been done before, the facet of five Black individuals gaining power that then makes them targets of a mysterious institution resonates all-too-closely to our current real-life circumstances. It looks like a compelling watch, once it hits the streaming platform.
Supacell was created, showrun, and had three of its episodes directed by the British artist Rapman. The cast includes Tosin Cole (Doctor Who, 61st Street) as Michael, Nadine Mills (Sliced and The Weekend) as Sabrina, Eric Kofi Abrefa (Blue Story, BMF) as Andre, Calvin Demba (The Rig, Life, Micky and the Bear) as Rodney, Josh Tedeku (Moonhaven, A Town Called Malice) as Tazer, Adelayo Adedayo (The Responder, Timewasters) as Dionne, Rayxia Ojo (Harry Potter and The Cursed Child – West End Production, Call The Midwife) as Sharleen, and Giacomo Mancini (Top Boy, Orthodox) as Spud.
Supacell will start streaming on Netflix sometime in June 2024.
